I got my first nanny position my last semester of my senior year in high school. Like most high school seniors I had an easy schedule, I was taking some online classes, and had my afternoons off. Because high school starts so early my school day ended by 10:30. I HATE down time! I constantly was seeing ads on TV for care.com I took a chance, made an account and applied for some jobs. I was fortunate enough to get an incredible job with a young family, they had an adorable little boy who was 7 months old when I started. Both parents were real estate agents and our schedules worked perfectly together. In the fall I started my freshman year at a local University as an early education major. After my first semester I made decided this wasn't the best fit for me, and transferred to another college near home. I also switched majors from elementary education to American Sign Language Studies. Throughout college I was able to continue working around my class schedule. Before finishing college I knew being a nanny was my calling.
Now almost 7 years later I couldn't be happier with the decision I made!!
Over the last 7 years I have had several different jobs, including a swim instructor at GoldFish Swim School, Caregiver for a special needs adult, camp counselor at a summer camp for special needs kids, PreSchool Teacher and many other babysitting/nanny positions.
By far my favorite job title I've held is, Nanny!!
Throughout my career I've had the pleasure of working with all ages. Newborn premature infants, toddlers, preschoolers, all the way up through the teen years. With families who have anywhere from 1 to 5 kids.
I started this blog as a way to share my experiences and educate people about my unique career. I can't wait for you to get to know me and learn more about child development, motherhood, nanny life, and anything and everything in between!
